FEBRUARY 2009 - 8TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

February 13 - March 7, 2009

The Fraser Gallery hosted the 8th Annual International Photography Competition. The competition is open to local, national and international photographers. This year, the Fraser Gallery received over 350 entries from 116 photographers. The curator, Catriona Fraser, selected work by 19 photographers for the exhibition. An Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony was held, in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk, on Friday, February 13, from 6pm - 9pm. $950 in Prize Money will be awarded to 4 of the finalists. SPRING GROUP EXHIBIT

A group exhibition of paintings and photgraphs by artists represented by the Fraser Gallery. An opening reception was held in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk on Friday, March 13 from 6PM - 9PM.

 


 

APRIL 10 - MAY 30, 2009

BETHESDA GREEN

An exhibition of paintings, photographs and mixed media collages created with recycled materials. Including work by Beata Drozd, Mike Fitts and Huguette Roe. An opening reception was in conjunction with the Bethesda Art Walk on Friday, April 10 from 6PM - 9PM.

JUNE 4 - JULY 4, 2009

BETHESDA PAINTING AWARDS

The Fraser Gallery is pleased to host the "Bethesda Painting Awards". The work of eight finalists, selected by a panel of 3 judges, will be on exhibit. This annual competition awards $14,000 to painters from DC, MD and VA. The "Bethesda Painting Awards" were founded by philanthropist and collector, Ms. Carol Trawick, and are produced by the "Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District".

The 2009 finalists are Steve Adams, McLean, VA, Heidi Fowler, Reston, VA, Lillian Bayley Hoover, Baltimore, MD, Jeff Huntington, Annapolis, MD, Magnolia Laurie, Baltimore, MD, Katherine Mann, Baltimore, MD, Greg Minah, Baltimore, MD, and Camilo Sanin, Jessup, MD. The 2009 Judges are Ruth Bolduan, Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, VA, Patrice Kehoe, Artist and Faculty Member at the University of Maryland and John Winslow, Artist and Professor Emeritus of Painting at Catholic University, Washington, D.C.

Award winners were announced on Wednesday, June 3. An Opening Reception for the public was held in conjunction with the "Bethesda Art Walk" on Friday, June 12 from 6PM - 9PM.

THE TRAWICK PRIZE - BETHESDA CONTEMPORARY ART AWARDS

The Fraser Gallery is pleased to host the "Trawick Prize". This annual competition awards $14,000 to artists working in all media from DC, MD and VA. The Fraser Gallery was pleased to present a solo exhibition of drawings by DC based artist, Andrew Wodzianski. An opening reception was held in conjunction with the "Bethesda Art Walk" on Friday, October 9 from 6pm - 9pm. A closing reception was held in conjunction with the "Bethesda Art Walk" on Friday, November 13 from 6PM - 9PM.
